Objective:

Cold frosty conditions cause several challenges to safety and production at the crusher, wash plant and asphalt plant. To safely prevent conveyor belts from slipping due to morning frost, we have sourced a Chemical and developed a procedure for removing frost from our conveyor belt equipment.

Description:

“Liquid Fire” solution is applied to conveyor belts and head pulleys at the end of the shift on the evening prior to a frost event. The solution is sprayed onto conveyor belts from a position outside of the conveyor guards. The solution is applied to head pulleys and tight areas while machinery is locked out.

The “Liquid Fire” prevents frost from forming on the belts overnight. The solution can also be applied in the morning to melt frost from belts; however we find it a better practice to do it the night before.
